Intro/Attention
For the last several Sunday mornings we've been studying the subject of spiritual warfare. I've entitled our series, Supernatural: spiritual warfare and the battle for eternity. Spiritual warfare is the eternal cosmic struggle between good and evil, light and darkness, the angels of God and the enemies of hell.
We have talked about the reality of the invisible war that surrounds us. We have talked about our enemy, the devil, who seeks to destroy our lives. And we have talked about how we arm ourselves for battle and engage the enemy through the Word of God and through prayer. This morning, we conclude our series by thinking about one simple concept: We Win! There are several scriptures I want to look at today so make sure to follow along with me in your Bibles. ''Good,'' says the coach. Then he points to a couple screaming in the stands and says ''Now would go over there and explain all of that to your mom and dad?''*
None of us like to lose. It's okay to want to win. But we all need to learn to be good sports whether we win or lose. I've been telling my kids since they started playing sports, ''Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But no one likes a trash talker and no one likes a whiny baby.''
*Play to win! I like that philosophy. The reality is, I love our sports ministr ...
