Galatians 5:16-26


Today we're continuing our series ''I Love My Life.'' We're going through the book of Galatians, and I want to talk to you about the cure for spiritual frustration.

Many times, we see where we are and where we want to be, and we see this great distance, and it can be extremely frustrating. We desire to have things like peace, joy, love, goodness, gentleness, self-control, and other things. Yet we see where we are and where we want to go, and many times, those things are not operating in our lives the way we wish they would, and we get spiritually frustrated.

God has a great word for us today about the cure for spiritual frustration. Listen, if we can begin to understand this, I believe our friendships would be stronger and our relationships would be healthier. Our self-perception, our sense of self-worth, our value, and our viewpoint of where we are and why would begin to transcend and transform all those things so we could really begin to understand how we can get these virtues into our lives. The Bible calls these virtues we desire so much, ''The fruit of the Spirit.''

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22).

What a great list of attributes. What a great list of things we all desire to have. In fact, if you could take this message and summarize it into one sentence, this is how we could summarize this section of Galatians 5: The Spirit of God can do things in us we could never do ourselves.

When we begin to live a life of patience, joy, kindness, goodness, and self-control, we begin to mature spiritually and bear Spiritual fruit. How can we begin to experience Spiritual fruit?
