I'm glad you're here this morning and I hope you had a great Thanksgiving

At the Thanksgiving lunch junior gorged himself on all of his favorite dishes: green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, macaroni and cheese, turkey and dressing with gravy, cranberry sauce, homemade biscuits, followed by pumpkin pie, pecan pie, cherry pie and vanilla ice cream. Five hours later, the family gathered to eat again and the table was laden with the leftovers. Junior wasn't the least bit hungry. He was still full from that unbelievable lunch. But these were all of his favorites and he wanted to eat something so he bowed his head and uttered this simple prayer, ''Lord, STRETCH ME.''

Some of you were stretched this week, AMEN?! Well, I hope God continues to stretch us as a church as we continue our journey through the seven churches in the book of Revelation. So far we've seen what Jesus had to say to 5 different churches (Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, and Sardis).

John was the one who wrote these letters, but Jesus was the author. Remember, John is on the Island of Patmos. It was on this island, John was put in exile and while he was there, Jesus appeared to him and gave him instructions to be his messenger... He also gave him the words to say to these churches.

This morning, we're going to see what Jesus had to say to the church in Philadelphia. If you'll notice on the [map], Philadelphia is located 28 miles southeast of Sardis. It was called, ''the gateway to the East'' because it was located where three countries joined together.

They call Philadelphia the city of brotherly love, because it was founded by two brothers who really didn't like each other. So when they came together and founded the city, it was nicknamed, the city of brotherly love.

In this city was also a church... and in Revelation 3, beginning in verse 7, we get to read wh ...
