LIVING TO HELP OTHERS

''To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness of Christ's sufferings and one who also will share in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers--not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.'' 1 Peter 5:1-4 (NIV)

(As we conclude this study together of 1st Peter we see the closing remarks of Peter to this group of churches. You see some closing word of wisdom for churches that are under persecution but about to be under an even greater persecution. You hear him speak to the church leaders about their responsibility to lead, you hear him challenge the young members to learn and grow from the older, more experienced leaders, and you finally hear Peter's warning about who the real enemy is and how as we stand strong in faith we will endure now and receive a final victory one day. As we conclude what I hope has been a good word for you, let's first PRAY.)
