Series: Being What Jesus Died For
Jerry Watts
2 Corinthians 5:14-20
(TEXT CALL) The setup for this message is found in verse 11 which says, ''Knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others.'' One day, I will preach on the 'fear' of the Lord. KJV renders this ''terror'' (50 times this Greek word is used and only 1 rendered terror. The last three words are our task, our goal, and our calling. (TEXT) Our initial journey through these early conceptual days is almost over. Today is week #6 as we have laid out the roadway to be or become what Jesus died for us to be. Next week is the summation of our trek. But these 6 functions, purposes, qualities, characteristics, or calling are something we should keep doing and repeating, and doing and repeating, so that we never lose sight of His will.
Allow me to review this one more time (because I will keep it in front of us, so we don't forget). WE pray, diligently, consistently, passionately, and persistently, until we experience God, who He is, what He's done, and what He wants to do, and this leads us to worship at his feet because of all these things. When we authentically worship Him (individually and collectively) by experiencing Him Spiritually, the natural outlet is an 'invitation to someone else for them to share this experience with us', this is called evangelism.
This invitation can be inviting someone to Jesus with your testimony (most natural) or you could use another way. But it also could be a simple invitation to attend a service with you. The natural result of invitations is that there will be some who attend and are saved, that is, if we verbally and faithfully share the gospel. When people receive Jesus, good news for the soul, the natural follow up is a process called discipleship. By the way, This is our failing of Southern Baptist at least 2 generations.
It is our responsibility to help the new Christ-followers to know how to live out the Christ life in our culture. ...
