Proverbs 7:1-27
We all know many well-known people and personalities have ruined their lives, families, and careers because of sexual sin. (Bill Cosby, Matt Lauer, Charlie Sheen, Jared from the Subway commercials) And here's how it happened... They made one bad decision that led to another bad decision and before they knew it, everything was ruined.
Many religious leaders and professing Christ-followers have experienced that same kind of self-destruction...
I'm talking about Pastors, denominational leaders, Ministry workers, Christian men and women-who've fallen out of ministry, or become disqualified from their office-and most of the time when that happens... it's because they fell into sexual sin.
Sexual immorality is something that's destroying Christian men, Christian women, and Christian teenagers in our country today... and research shows us that most of these sexual sins began with pornography.
Today in America, over 40 million adults are considered 'frequent visitors' to pornographic websites.
The latest statistics show that 18% of Christian Men view pornography several times a week. 64% of American men admit to viewing pornography at least once a month.
And it's not just the men that are being affected. This same report says that 1 in 3 visitors to adult websites are women. It says that 17% of all women struggle with pornography addiction.
And it's sad to say, but the statistics apply to our kids today. I recently read that 90% of children (ages 8-16) ... 90%... have viewed pornography online.
And that sounds crazy, right!?! It sounds impossible... but you know what? It's true. The devil loves to use sexual sin to destroy God's children.
We act like this is a new thing, but really, the same thing was happening in Solomon's day. When you look at [Proverbs 7] he was acknowledging this very thing. In fact, he begins by giving a word of war ...
