The Work Continues-the Workers Change

Joshua 13:1-2
If you have a copy of God's word this morning, I'd like to invite you to join me in the Old Testament book of Joshua-Joshua 13.
Context: It was transition time for the children of Israel. Joshua had proved himself to be a faithful servant and a soldier for the Lord. He had led them through many victories and even through a few defeats.
[v. 1] When Joshua had grown old, the LORD said to him, ''You are now very old, and there are still very large areas of land to be taken over.''

He could have said that at this point, because really, at this point, God had accomplished so much through Joshua. Consider his resume:
As the assistant to Moses, Joshua was the one that selected and commanded the military in their first battle leaving Egypt.
He's the one that journeyed up Mount Sinai with Moses. In fact, he was the one that broke the tablets after hearing the Israelites worshipping the Golden Calf.
Joshua was the one that led the Israelites in the crossing of the Jordan River (that was parted by God), and God used him to conquer the lands of Canaan.
The very first battle was the battle of Jericho. Remember that?
After Joshua conquered Jericho, he conquered Ai following a great victory at Gibeon when God caused the sun to stand still.
Joshua repeatedly led the Israelites to conquer the majority of Canaanite land.
Well, now fast-forward to Joshua 13. [v. 1] When Joshua had grown old, the LORD said to him, ''You are now very old, and there are still very large areas of land to be taken over.''
Let me ask you a question: Did Moses com ...
