Introduction
Hey, welcome to Mission Hills. So good to have you with us here on the first weekend of the new year and the first weekend of a new series designed to help us get the most out of this new year.
I'm curious: how many of you have the habit of choosing a word for the year? You know, a word that helps you set your intention for how you're going to live differently in this next year. Here's what I want you do to: in just a moment I'm going to ask you to either find someone nearby or, if you're watching online, to go to the chat bar and get ready to tell your online host, ok? And here's what you're going to tell them. If you already have a word picked out, you're going to tell them what that word is. And if you don't already have a word picked out, you're going to say ''I'm looking for some good ideas!'' Ok...you ready? Go.
So if you don't have a word already, I'm going to give you a suggestion. And even if you have a word already, I'm going to give you another word that you might want to add to your other word. This is my word for the year and I think it might just be a word that all of us need to be thinking about as we begin 2021...and that word is: momentum.
If you don't know what momentum is, it's basically mass in motion. And the thing about something that has mass and is in motion is that it's a thing that's hard to stop. That's probably why John Maxwell says that ''momentum solves 80% of your problems.'' Because if you have momentum in your life...in your job, in your relationships, in your finances, in your spiritual life...you'll find that the obstacles you encounter don't even slow you down. But when those exact same obstacles come up in someone's life who doesn't have momentum, those obstacles don't just slow them down, they stop 'em in their tracks.
And that's why momentum is my word for the year and why I think momentum might be a word you ...
