This morning, we are beginning a new series entitled, ''Building Blocks for a Successful Life.'' And really, the foundation for this entire study is going to come from one single verse.

[Joshua 1:8] This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.

That verse tells us that God wants us to be successful in life... and He not only desires that for us... but He's the one that gives us the formula for success in His Word.

Success isn't defined by the WORLD... Success is defined by the WORD.

This morning, we're asking the question, ''What does successful COMMUNITY look like?

One thing is for certain: God never intended for us to live in isolation.
He makes that very clear in His word. God never intended for YOU to do THIS all by yourself.

Last year, my family spent a few days in Gatlinburg and we decided we'd go hiking. We stopped by a little hut at the entrance to the park and had the chance to talk to one of the Park Rangers...

Well, without hesitating... my son looked at the Ranger and says, ''Hey! What are the chances of us being attacked by a bear today?'' When he asked that, I was like-''Come on man! Don't ask dumb questions like that. Nobody's getting attacked,'' but then the Ranger was like-''Well... I'd say there's around a 5% chance.'' I was like, ''WHAT!?!''

He said, ''Yeah... I mean... As long as you stay in a group you should be fine... Because most people are attacked when they go off by themselves.''

Listen-God tells us... to STICK TOGETHER!

That truth goes all the way back to the garden. In [Gen. 2:18] God said, ''It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper corresponding to him.''
