Joshua 1:8
How would you define SUCCESS in life?
This week I read an article where so-called 'successful people' were sharing their definitions of success:
- Richard Branson-(Billionaire)-''True success should be measured by how happy you are.''
- Maya Angelou-(Acclaimed author, poet)-''Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.''
- Mark Cuban-(Billionaire, Owner of the Dallas Mavericks, Host of Shark Tank)-''My definition of success is waking up in the morning with a smile on your face, knowing it's going to be a great day.''
- Warren Buffet-(3rd richest man in the world, net worth $77.4 billion)-''I measure success by how many people love me.''
It's interesting to me, that some of the wealthiest, most accomplished people on the planet have varying definitions when it comes to success. Some define it by money, others by relationships. Some define it by love, and others by contentment.
- When you look at the WORLD-the definitions of success are all over the place.
- But, when you look to the WORD-you get a much clearer understanding of what success really looks like.
[Joshua 1:8] This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.
Over the next several weeks, we'll be looking to God's 'book of instruction' ... and we'll be observing what it says... so that we can prosper and succeed in the areas of marriage, parenting, community and stewardship.
So I'm going to ask you to commit to being here these 4 weeks as we learn what it look like to be successful in life. I'm asking you to be prayed up and to be engaged as we walk through this study together. [PRAY]
