A couple of weeks ago, I was standing in line to get food at a busy Qdoba. There were all kinds of people around there, and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, this little maybe 18-month or 2-year-old girl started running toward me with joy and happiness, and clung to my leg and she started shouting, ''This is my daddy!'' It was a bit awkward. Her mother, I promised I'd never seen her in my life, was profusely apologizing and she was peeling her little girl off my leg and she kept on, ''This is my daddy!'' And she said, ''No, this is not your daddy, your daddy is over here.''

Now, what was amazing is this. Her dad never took his eyes off the menu. Not one time. I don't know if this happens so much he was just used to it, or if he was extremely hungry, but his indifference was incredible. My point is this: That little girl, sweet, lovely, and blind, didn't know my identity. She was confused over who I really was.

As you go through the book of Mark, Mark is trying to clarify exactly who Jesus is. You remember that he is writing to the Roman Christians who are hunkered down, and they are fearful for their lives. So he is writing to remind them, you don't have to be worried, you don't have to be afraid, you need to remember who Jesus is. And so what Mark does is he shows the confusion as to who Jesus is all around him, and he keeps pointing out, this is who Jesus is, this is who Jesus is, don't forget, this is who Jesus is.

Even last week, Pastor David did a wonderful job of leading you through the text where Jesus calms the winds and the waves and He rebukes the storm and He rescues the disciples, but even they didn't quite know. What was the very last verse of the chapter? What did the disciples say when they were rescued? ''Who is this man, who even the wind and the waves obey?''

They loved Him, they adored Him, they were following Him, they were believing in Him, but e ...
