Mark 6:30-44
All right, well open up your bibles to Mark chapter 6. Today we're going to be looking at verses 30-44, and we're studying the only miracle that Jesus performed, outside of His own resurrection, that's mentioned in all four of the gospels. And it's typically called ''The feeding of the five thousand,'' and we're going to see that it's many more than 5,000. And really, what it was, Jesus does this unbelievable - He feeds this massive crowd with what amounted to a snack pack from Long John Silver's. And John, when he tells his version of this miracle, he says that at the end of it, the people were so amazed, the people were so enthralled, the people were so overwhelmed that when they realized what He had done, they tried to force Him to become their king. They're trying to get Jesus in a headlock and saying, ''You will be our king.'' Not their heavenly king, but their earthly king.
They didn't do this when He preached, they didn't do this when He healed, they didn't do this when He raised people from the dead, they didn't do this when He cast out demons, only when they were miraculously fed did they want Jesus to be their king. So this is an important and significant passage that we need to pay particular attention to.

If you've ever had a children's bible or if you've ever been in Sunday School, you've heard this story. So just like anything else, when you think you know the story, when you think that you learned it all, you have a temptation to check out, because you've l ...
