A Funeral Sermon for a Young Man Tragically Killed

1 Thessalonians 4:13
Context The Thessalonian Christians were worried that their deceased loved ones would miss the return of Christ So Paul is explaining the reality of human death in the context of God's ultimate plans for the world We grieve but with hope Why can we have hope when a Christian has died?
Because Stephon's death was not outside God's will As tragic and painful as it is to us right now, God did not falter or fail in regards to Stephon's life ''Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in your book and planned before a single one of them began,'' (Psalm 139:16)
''The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord,'' (Job 1:21). We may not understand God's ways but that they are God's ways is beyond doubt Thus, we can have hope because God is in control Because Stephon's death was not outside God's love God is not just in control, though, He is good All of God's ways are the ways of holy love, even if we don't understand or see it John 11:5, 6, 36
