Ephesians 6:10-20
We are taking three weeks to look at ''Spiritual Warfare.'' Last week we began looking at the ''Adversary'', who is Lucifer, the deceiver, the serpent, or Satan. I reminded all of us of John's words, 'Greater is He who is in you than He that is in the world' but also that ''Greater is He who is in the world than you are alone.'' When tempted, even Jesus leaned on scripture for His defense.
Tonight, we are looking at the 'attack' and will finish next week with the ''Armor.''
Let's read our text. It's worth noting that 2 times in this short passage, Past speaks of the ''full armor'', not some armor or partial but full or whole. Why Because He understood and literally had real-life visual. Writing from prison, he likely had or was chained to his jailer who was sitting in his full armor. Get that picture in your mind. Paul is writing to Ephesus, who at the time was the most spiritual impactful church that he knew, He was writing to mature people who we ''IN CHRIST.'' Being ''In Christ'' meant two things, they were indeed saved and they were indeed in the 'battle.'
Last night at a seminar as the Association office, we were discussing things the Bible teaches and churches today prefer to avoid. This is one of those subjects. The reason we are to preach the whole counsel of God is this, if we avoid something long enough, we will slowly decide this part of Bible don't relate. The danger with this is that now, we are getting in the cultural in ''heat of the battle'' and could be ill-prepared, underdressed, ill-equipped. And you know what happens in that scenario, Satan wins battle after battle because we're not fighting. These three message are intended to help prepare us.
