We're learning these days about living out the feasts of Israel which are really the feasts of the LORD, for He's the one who established them. They are all his. He tells us in Leviticus 23.1 that they
''... are My feasts.''
Isn't that just like him? It's a good thing that we are heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ according to Romans 8.17. Here's what that means: through Christ, what He possesses, we possess! What's His, is ours! That means his feasts are now our feasts for living out, not simply for learning.
Now remember these seven feasts are in sequential order. When God established them, he did so with the end in mind. The order of these feasts tells a story; the story of Jesus and his church. And because they tell the story of Jesus and his church, they involve and include us!
So, the next time you hear somebody say that the Old Testament is not relevant for us today, don't you believe it! The Old Testament gives us shadows whereas the New Testament gives us substance.
Think of the Old Testament in building terms: it's the gospel foundation.
I currently have a neighbor building a house next door to our house. We have been watching the long and tedious work that's gone into making sure the foundation is correct. It seems that they have been working on their foundation for months making sure it's done correctly.
I know enough about building to know that if the foundation is wrong, the house built upon it is going to be all wrong.
Jesus talked about the importance of building on a solid foundation in Matthew 7:24-27, ''Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn't collapse, because its foundation was on the rock. 26 But everyone who ...
