Galatians 5 tells us that the fruit of the Spirit is peace, joy, love, goodness, kindness, gentleness, and self-control. How amazing would it be if the next time someone pushes our buttons, the fruit of our life (joy, love, goodness, kindness, gentleness, and self-control) was triggered? We've been in a series over the last few weeks called ''Triggers,'' and we've been talking about how sometimes people, money, and stress can set us off. But today, I want to wrap this series up by talking about the power of the Holy Spirit in our life. We need the Holy Spirit to trigger something in us, to reflect the nature of God. God has given us a great gift in the person of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the least understood of the three personalities of the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Many people understand God, some people know who Jesus is, but fewer comprehend who the Holy Spirit is. The Holy Spirit is necessary to live the Christian life. You can't live out the plans and purposes of God in your life if you don't have the power of the Spirit. Today we are wrapping up this series with a discussion about Spirit triggers. When my flesh is about to be triggered, I need the Spirit to be triggered. Many times, we look for trivial solutions to significant problems. If we have habits that we want to change, we are going to have to do some different things, depending on the patterns. For example, if we are angry, we may need to talk to a counselor. If we want to be more joyful, we can try smiling more.
Changing behaviors to change habits is excellent. But what I'm talking to you about today is something that is far more significant. I'm talking about something more rooted in your heart, more profound in your life. I want to talk about us getting a new he ...
