''One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, 'Of all the commandments, which is the most important?'

'The most important one,' answered Jesus, 'is this: ''Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'' The second is this: ''Love your neighbor as yourself.'' There is no commandment greater than these.''' Mark 12:28-31 (NIV)

(This morning we are going to begin a series concerning what Jesus called the ''Most Important Commandment'' literally the Bible in Nutshell''. This is considered one of the most important teachings of Jesus along with John 3:16 and Matthew 28:19-20. These are literally Words to study and live by. If someone were to ask me, where should I start after excepting Christ, after becoming a Christian I would say start right here. My hope is you will listen to this series over these next 5 weeks and learn together with me what Jesus considered the ''greatest commandment'' and then let's apply it to our lives. ...in the book of Mark we find Jesus discussing and debating with a group of scribes, Jewish religious teachers, and as you know He held His on...because let me let you in on a little secret...Jesus is God, and when you argue with God, He always wins. Anyway, one of the scribes, literally Jewish Religious Lawyers, heard what Jesus said and he asked Him, ''what is the most important commandment''...now you might think this is an interesting question but you need to understand why he asked it. To become a scribe you had to study the Old Testament, you had to memorize huge portions of it, you had to sit at the feet of great Jewish Teachers and you would debate and discuss scripture continually.
