Mark 12:28-31
''One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, 'Of all the commandments, which is the most important?'
'The most important one,' answered Jesus, 'is this: ''Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'' The second is this: ''Love your neighbor as yourself.'' There is no commandment greater than these.''' Mark 12:28-31 (NIV)
(We started a new series several weeks ago with what Jesus said was the first and greatest commandment. As a reminder the Jews called this the SHEMA, which literally means HEAR, to understand and apply. The Shemah was so important to the Jews they were to repeat it at morning and evening, during the beginning of their Worship, it was priority. We have studied so far that we are to Love God with our whole heart, our Intellect and this is WORSHIP which means to ''bow down to'', we then looked at Loving God with our Soul, our feelings and emotions and this relates to FELLOWSHIP, and means we are to grow in our personal relationship with Him, taking time to get to know Him, Last week we looked at loving God with our Mind, by having Him constantly on our mind, and this relates to DISCIPLESHIP, growing in the Knowledge and Wisdom of the Lord. This week we are going to look at the 4th way we are to love God, and that is with our strength...so look with me at what God's Word says about loving God with our strength...but first let's PRAY
