Numbers 13:31-32
Now, these are the areas the Israelites received as an inheritance in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun and the heads of the tribal clans of Israel allotted to them. Their inheritances were assigned by lot to the nine-and-a-half tribes, as the Lord had commanded through Moses. Moses had granted the two-and-a-half tribes their inheritance east of the Jordan but had not granted the Levites an inheritance among the rest, for the sons of Joseph had become two tribes--Manasseh and Ephraim. The Levites received no share of the land but only towns to live in, with pasturelands for their flocks and herds. So the Israelites divided the land, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
(This morning I want to share with you what I believe to be one of the most encouraging and little told stories of the Bible. We all know about Abraham, Jacob and Isaac, about Moses and Samson and King David and now Joshua...but there is a man in the Bible who many people don't know much about who is a reminder to us of what Faithful Living Looks like. To me he sets the standard for living faithful to the end and shows us how we can live that way as well...He was a soldier, a spy, a second in command and above all a servant and yet we don't talk about him much. His name is Caleb and his story is one of the most outstanding stories of faith...we can learn a lot about him as we consider being FAITHFUL TO THE END. Let's PRAY...
