The Sanctity of Human Life
Joshua Malone
Psalm 139:13-16
This morning we are talking about the sanctity of life in particular life in the womb. We believe every life is precious to God, form womb to tomb. We believe life is precious. Life in the womb, life of the mother, life of the poor, life of the rich, life of every race and nationality. And if I may quote Dr. Suess, ''A person is a person no matter how small.''
But why do we feel the need to say these things and talk about it? Well, 1. God's Word celebrates the gift and value and purpose of life. 2. Our culture is far adrift on this issue and it is an issue you and I must be willing to speak on. I wish there was no need for this day.
January 22, 1973. It was on that date the Supreme Court ruled in the case of Roe v. Wade and abortion became legal in the United States. Since that date over 55 million babies have been aborted in the U.S. alone. In 2014 approx. 19% nearly 1 in 5 pregnancies in the US ended in abortion. In 2016 approx. 885,000 abortions occurred in the US. I saw on Thrive's website this week that in Orange and Seminole counties about 10,000 babies are aborted a year and that in Orlando about 19 children are aborted a day.
It's not about politics. It's about loving our neighbors and sharing the truth.
We have a responsibility as believers to speak the truth about good and evil.
Eph. 5:11- Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.
Today, it my hope to show you the preciousness of human life from the Bible and in so doing to expose what is the wickedness of abortion.
From today's passage we can see why every life is precious, in particular that of the unborn.
Psalm 139:13-16- 13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret ...
