Good morning Waypoint Church! If you have a bible, and I hope you do, open it to Romans 6. The title of the message today is You Can Win Against Sin. Let's be honest for a moment. Some of you are not so sure about that. You really aren't. Because it seems like no matter what you do or how hard you try, you just can't seem to overcome those same stubborn sins that you've struggled with for years. Every time you think they are gone for good; suddenly they spring back to life and your struggle continues.
I was reading this week about the Italian sailing team that traveled to Australia a number of years ago to compete in the America's Cup race. Of course, being from Italy they were outfitted with the latest sports fashion by the popular Italian designer, Gucci. On one of their days off in Australia, they decided to rent a car, go out into the Outback, and try to find some kangaroos. Who doesn't want to see kangaroos when they go to Australia, right?
? So they're driving along the road, deep in the bush of outback, when all of a sudden they not only saw a kangaroo, they collided with a kangaroo. They all jumped out of the Land Rover to see if the animal was ok. They kind of hovered over it as it lay there completely unresponsive. They did what everyone would do in a situation like that---they started taking pictures. One guy got the bright idea that he was going to take off his nice Gucci jacket, put it on the limp kangaroo, and snap a few photos.
? So he put the jacket on the kangaroo, but when he stepped back to take pictures, the creature came back to life. He wasn't dead; he was just dazed. Off course at this moment, the poor kangaroo is full of terror, so with lightning speed, it hops up and makes a mad dash into some deep brush before they could do anything. Somewhere in the Australia Outback there is a very fashionably dressed kangaroo wearing a Gucci jacket. And ...
