At Judson College in Marion, AL (5th oldest women's college), the male chaplain was leading in prayer in the all-female chapel service. He prayed, ''Lord give us kind hearts.'' You could hear a few amens. Then he prayed, ''Lord, give us loving hearts.'' Again, there were a few soft amens. Then he prayed, ''Lord, give us sweethearts!'' And all the woman said, ''AMEN!''
As we continue our series on being a part of a love revolution, let me again invite you to join me in 1 Corinthians 13 - as today we will discuss how God's agape love in us lives thru us in kindness.
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices w/ the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails... Now these (3) remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
As we delve into the activity of agape love, let me remind you that God's love is greater and beyond man's love. Once we receive Christ as our Savior and begin living in an abiding daily relationship w/ Him, God is able to agape love thru us enabling us to love our spouse, children, parents, friends, and even our enemies in the way God wants them to be loved.
