*The future is big news. Tune your television to CNN or Fox News and sit back for a while. Odds are you won't have to watch long before seeing some ''expert'' give his predictions for the future. First, a scientist is interviewed about future developments in technology or outer space. Then a diplomat is asked about the future of peace in the Middle East. Next a political pundit speculates on the future of the coming election. Finally, a woman steps in front of a green screen to deliver the most dubious prophecy of all - the weather forecast. The future is also big business. Despite the fact that we live in the most scientifically sophisticated age in human history, fortune tellers and palm readers are still a booming business! You can discover your future based on your sign; and you can get three different readings from three different websites. It's so vague that it can meaning everything and nothing at the same time. Our society is fascinated with the future. People are turning to the occult, to the New Age, to new books by popular preachers, to supermarket tabloids, to every irrational source in a frenzied search for certainty about the future. Ironically, our society has largely ignored the best source of information about the future: the book of Revelation.*

As we come to Revelation 4, we stand at the brink of the third division of the book. In Revelation 1:19, we learned from the Lord Himself that this book properly divides into three sections. There He told the apostle John, READ 1:19 The three divisions are clear:

Past things: ''The things that you have seen...'' - Revelation 1. This is the vision This is the vision that John received in the latter part of chapter 1; the vision of the glorified Christ.

Present things: ''Those that are...'' - Revelation 2-3. This refers to the ''church age'' recorded in Revelation 2-3. In that ...
