Intro/Attention
We are working our way verse-by-verse through the Book of Revelation as we study God's plan and program for the future. Tonight, we come to Revelation 17. Here, we see the ''great prostitute'' and ''the beast,'' and we learn of ''Babylon the great.'' Tonight, I'm preaching a message entitled Beauty and the Beast. But trust me, this is different than any Disney movie you've ever seen or any Disney story you've ever read. READ TEXT
*Adrian Rogers tells this story in his book, Unveiling the End Times in Our Time: ''Let me give you a classic example of beauty and the beast. Awhile ago, one of my granddaughters got married. She asked if I would take her and her new husband from the church to their car in the rumble seat of my 1929 black-and-yellow Model A Ford. Like any good Papa, I said yes. To make the experience complete, someone hung a sign saying ''Just Married'' on the back bumper, along with tin cans. We had a grand time. When I had to take my car home, I asked another of my granddaughters if she wanted to ride with me. As we were driving down the interstate highway, truck drivers were blowing their horns and pointing at me and clapping their hands. It took me by complete surprise until I realized what was happening. People were thinking, What is that old geezer doing with that young twenty-something girl? How on earth did he ever talk her into marrying him? The difference between that episode and this episode about a Babylonian mother and a Babylonian monster is that my granddaughter who was riding with me is beautiful without and within. The beauty we will be talking about was beautiful outside but ugly within.*
