Intro/Attention
How will it all end?'' has been mankind's major question for centuries. Historians have studied the past, hoping to find a clue to understanding the future. Philosophers have tried to penetrate the meaning of things, but they have yet to find the key. No wonder perplexed people have turned in desperation to astrology and spiritism! The prophetic Word of God shines like a ''light ... in a dark place'' (2 Peter 1:19), and on that we can depend. Here in Revelation 19-20, John has recorded five key events that will take place before God ''wraps up'' human history and ushers in His new heavens and earth.
This evening we come to Revelation 19-20 in our verse-by-verse study through this New Testament prophecy. We have seen significant judgment through Revelation 6-18 but as we come to the concluding chapters of Revelation, we see all of these events coming to an important conclusion and consummation. The subject of this sermon is simply this, We Are On The Winning Team! READ Revelation 19:1-8, 11-16; 20:1-11
*I don't know if you follow sports at all but I have been an avid sports fan all my life. Being a native of Georgia, I naturally pull for the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Georgia Bulldogs. If you know anything about these sports programs you will know that I have experienced significant heartbreak and loss from each of these teams. In fact, some have now named the city of Atlanta the most miserable sports city in the world. Why? Because we seem to find a way to lose championships. The Falcons lost the Super Bowl in the most astonishing way possible in 2017 to the perennial powerhouse, New England Patriots. I was there when my Georgia Bulldogs lost a heartbreaker to the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2018 on a 2nd and 26 touchdown pass.
