Series: Names of God

Genesis 22:1-14
As we have studied the names of God we have seen:
Elohim - God's Personality
El Elyon - God's Position
El Roi - God's Perception
El Olan - God's Permanence
El Shaddai - God's Power
Adonai - God's Preeminence
Jehovah - God's Perfection
Jehovah Jireh - God's Provision
In the beginning names we see God in terms of ''what He does.'' But coming to Jehovah and the names compounded with that name - we see God in terms of ''what God is.''
Jehovah - God is perfect - never changing.
Jehovah-Jireh - God is our provider.
The question is: If God is my provider - then why do I so often seem to be without His provision?
How may I position myself in order to receive God's provision? All of us have evident - elemental needs and eternal needs. So how do we get God's provision?
Let's look at eight positions in the order of which God provided for Abraham.
CONSCIOUSNESS OF FAITH
Every person should recognize that God is God and must be reckoned with. God revealed Himself to us because of His grace. Not only does God reveal Himself to you, but the very fact that you can believe in God is an act of God's grace. You would never know about God apart from His grace revealing Himself to you. The only reason you have faith is because God has given you faith. You could not have faith to believe in God unless God gave it to you.
Ephesians 2:8-9 - ''For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9) Not of works, lest any man should boast.''
''Faith is a gift.''
Romans 10:17 - ''...so then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Faith comes by God speaking (the Word) to you.''
Why did God reveal Himself to Abram? Abram was conscious of God and he knows Him as Elohim. He is just learning about God with his consciousness of faith.
