Discovering God as Jehovah-Jireh (2 of 14)
Series: David Davis
Genesis 22:6-14
George Mueller was a man who had tremendous faith. He was a giant of prayer. In the latter years of his life, he supported countless missionaries overseas, as well as, ministering to over 2,000 orphans in Bristol, England. It is estimated, in his lifetime solely in answer to prayer God provided between $9 and $17 million dollars for his work with orphans. Over 5,000 of his prayers were answered in his personal journal.
On several occasions - the orphans would be sitting at the table with no visible sign of food. Once a man knocked on the door, after they had thanked God for the food they were about to eat, though nothing was on the table. He said that he was to cater a large banquet - had prepared the food - but he had written the wrong date down on his calendar and he wanted to know if he could use the food. Dr. Mueller said, ''Well, you're a few minutes late - since we have already blessed it - and we are ready to eat.''
Are there needs in your life that aren't being met?
CONSIDER YOUR NEEDS
Some of you have great needs. You're not sure whether you will have food to put on your table. You are wondering how you are going to pay your bills. You aren't sure about the security of your job. You have family needs. You have physical needs, even now, as you are in pain now. You have received the bad news concerning your health. Everyone has needs.
We can divide all of our needs into three categories.
Evident Needs
There are needs in your life that are obvious. Not just shelter and sustenance and security. These are needs we all have.
I'm talking about a more personal and precise need.
A specific payment you must make. An illness that you have. A specific issue that you are facing right now.
These are needs that are evident in your life. They are foremost on your mind. Parent relation ships - marital problems - stress at work - at school.
Elemental Need ...
