What should I do when the peace in my heart is disturbed? How should I respond? What are the steps I should take? To whom should I look? Where should I go for the answer to my questions?
This is the nation of a disturbed people. A study was done and the question was asked - ''What would you like more than anything else in the world?'' The majority of people answered - '' I would like peace in my life.'' There are those of you who would answer in the same way.
Israel is facing a serious conflict in their lives. It is a time of great anxiety for the people. Because of the disobedience, God allowed the Midianites to take over their land. Because of fear for their very lives, the Israelites were driven to live in caves. Once they were living in luxury, but now they are living in despair.
We are all faced with having our peace disturbed. Sometimes we face problems that challenge the peace in our hearts. There are other times that the problems we face do not affect our peace - but the solving of a problem is actually a challenge for us. Or perhaps some of our problems are aggrevations to us.
Maybe you have had car problems. Or maybe you have gone a couple of straight weeks and had to deal with a flat tire. Those are aggrevations, but not peace threating.
There are other problems that trouble our hearts. Things that enter our lives that cut to the quick of our emotions that affect every area of our lives.
I. THE REALITY OF DISTURBED PEACE
