Big Idea: We thrive when we humbly use the influence God's given us to bless others.

I. Introduction

Ok, let's review:

1. We thrive when we refuse to compromise our faith in a God who is bigger than our Babylon.

2. We thrive when we pursue Godly wisdom, because Godly wisdom turns slipper slopes into solid ground.

3. We thrive when our faith in God is stronger than our fear of the furnace.

II. Main Body

A. The Big Change

King Nebuchadnezzar, To the nations and peoples of every language, who live in all the earth: May you prosper greatly! 2 It is my pleasure to tell you about the miraculous signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed for me. 3 How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an eternal kingdom; his dominion endures from generation to generation. (Daniel 4:1-3)

This is a new Nebuchadnezzar. We haven't seen this God-honoring Nebuchadnezzar yet. Up to this point in the book of Daniel, we've seen an arrogant man who thinks he's all that and a bag of chips. Now, he's caught some glimpses of the greatness of God...he's even taken some small steps in acknowledging that greatness. For instance, last week we saw him say that no god can save like the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. That's an important step. But now, he's not talking about the ''God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.'' Now, he's talking about ''the Most High God.'' That's a huge step. There's something dismissive about talking about ''your God'' or ''their God''... ''the God'' is a big step. So we have to ask: what led to this change? Well, that's the story Nebuchadnezzar wants to tell us:

B. Humbled

4 I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at home in my palace, contented and prosperous. (Daniel 4:4)

This is an interesting statement and it really sets the stage for what's about to happen.
