Daniel 11
Big Idea: We thrive when we refuse to be seduced by worldly success.
Seduced = being gradually led to a place we don't want to be without really knowing that's what's happening
I. Introduction
Welcome to Mission Hills! I'm so glad you're here today for one of our last two weeks on the book of Daniel. I think you're going to be really glad you've joined us today - it might be uncomfortable at first, but it's going to be good - because we're going to be taking a look at what I believe is one of the greatest dangers you and I will ever face. And it's not dangerous because it's more evil or more destructive than anything else, because its more seductive. And here's what I mean by seductive: seductive = the ability to gradually lead us to a place we don't want to be without realizing that's where we're headed. Today we're going to take a look at the seductive power of success. And I realize this is an inherently uncomfortable thing for a lot of us, because our culture worships success. We do. And success isn't bad. Let me just say that right up front. Success isn't bad. In fact, Success is sometimes a gift from God and he doesn't give bad gifts. But if we're not careful, success can lead us to somewhere we don't want to be, without knowing that's where we're headed.
Why don't you go ahead and grab a Bible and make your way to Daniel 11 and I'll show you what I'm talking about.
