INTRODUCTION: We are in a series we are calling Christmas Emotions. The fact is this is one of the most Emotional times of the year for good or bad. Good emotions like Joy are supposed to be at an all time high, but for some many Depression is stoked, the suicide rate surges, Violence is seen at shopping malls as Anger goes through the roof.

Why is that and what can we done to keep us from being victims of our emotions?
Today we are looking at Anger.

1. There are two kinds of Anger -
a. Righteous
b. Unrighteous

Examples of Righteous Anger:
- Jesus - Jesus was angry at the people who had turned the temple into a market place. He was angry when he drove them out with cords. But it wasn't sinful anger. The bible tells us that zeal for His Father's house consumed Him.
- God the Father - The Bible tells us that God is a Righteous Judge and is angry with the wicked every day!
- Us - Ephesians 4:26 NIV: In your anger no not sin.

Martin Luther When I am angry I can write, pray, and preach well, for then my whole temperament is quickened, my understanding sharpened, and all mundane vexations and temptations depart.

Let me tell you, sometimes it is a sin not to get angry.

So there are two KINDS of Anger,

2. There are two Kinds of Unrighteous Anger
a. Microwave
b. Crockpot

The first, Microwave is the word THUMOS -
ILLUSTRATION;
- Bobby Knight is the classic example of a short temper on steroids. We have seen him throw chair, choke players, bullwhipping the team during practice.
- General George Patton had this kind of temper when he would slap soldiers who were shell shocked when visiting them in the hospital.

The second is TORASSO and ORGAY, or what I call Pressure Cooker Anger

The New Testament uses this word 36 times translated as anger. TORASSO, is what I call, pressure cooker anger. It simmers and builds pressure for a long time, before it explodes.
