We are excited to continue our series that we started a couple of weeks ago called the Love Culture. Every life has a culture, and God wants love to be the center, the foundation, the core, of all that we do. Today we are going to dig into the 13th chapter of the book of 1 Corinthians. Let's look at love and what the Bible has to say to us about how our love can mature because every one of us here today can grow in our capacity to love God and to love others. Let's look at 1 Corinthians 13:8-13.

''Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.''

This letter, written to the church at Corinth, was written amid a lot of chaos. There were a lot of wheels-off stuff going on in the Corinthian church. People were getting drunk off of the Lord's Supper. People were suing each other in the church. Paul said the members caused more harm than good when they met together. He thought it would be better for them not to have church services because, when they got together, all the crazy stuff happened. That's the Corinthian church. Paul begins to challenge them to refocus their life on the virtue of love. People were fighting over spiritual gifts, and people were showing off individual spiritual abilities.
