Romans 8:9-11

Scripture teaches us that God cannot dwell among sinners unless there is an atonement made mfor their sin. We see this in the OT where the Lord required his people to have a Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) in which the people were cleansed (Leviticus 16).

It was the one day of the year when the High Priest was permitted to enter the Holy of Holies and stand before the presence of God's glory over the ark of the covenant.
