In 1996, I attended a Conference at Glorietta & had the opportunity to hear a preacher named Bill Hybels speak. He is the first person to impress on me that truth that the “Local Church IS INDEED the hope of the world.” Then in 2002, he released the book, “Courageous Leadership” and wrote this; “There is nothing like the local church when it’s working right. Its beauty is indescribable. Its power is breathtaking. Its potential is unlimited. It comforts the grieving and heals the broken in the context of community. It builds bridges to seekers and opens its arms to the forgotten, the downtrodden, and the disillusioned. It breaks the chains of addictions, frees the oppressed, and offers belonging to the marginalized of this world. The potential of the local church is almost more than I can grasp.” What an outstanding Biblical & spiritual view of the church.
This view of the church is birthed out of a heart that gives us our foundations. Think like this, we “honor God in all we do.” Why is that? Because ‘the bible is our guidebook’ that tells us ‘all people matter to God’ and that God loves us, and THIS IS THE PLAN God has for us.
The local church is either the most IMPORTANT part of the community or it’s the most IMPOTENT part of any community, & the difference is this; whether it is an authentic, Holy Spirit led, New Testament Bible Church or not. Sadly, in America today, many local congregations have been hijacked by well-meaning people & have been made “MY, OUR” church & the spiritual power is gone. The local church that is the hope of the world is the one who lives, acts, & ministers Jesus’ way or is a Jesus Church. That church is indeed the hope of the world.
This is my prayer for us. But in order for us, or any local congregation to actually be the HOPE OF THE WORLD which means that we offer hope TO THE WORLD, ...
