We're wrapping up our Threading the Needle series today. In this series, we've been looking at a conversation Jesus had with a man...and we've seen several important truths. First, we've seen that being with Jesus is the key to everything...he's where salvation is, he's where forgiveness is, he's where peace. So being with Jesus is the key...but we've also see that Jesus is a moving target. That' why we're called followers of Jesus. We're not standers around with Jesus or hangers out with Jesus, we're followers of Jesus, because he's always on the move. And because Jesus is always on the move, mobility is a must. We have to be mobile enough to follow Jesus wherever he leads.
Why don't you turn to the person next to you and ask them ''how's your mobility?''
Mobility is a must, so whenever there's something in our lives that's decreasing our mobility, something that's holding us back from following Jesus, we have to take steps to get free from it. Now for this man, the thing that was holding him back was money. And Jesus gave him - and us - the key to being free from being held back by money, which is generosity. Generosity is the key to not being held back by money.
But this man couldn't do it. He couldn't embrace generosity. And that led Jesus to say to his disciples '' ...
