introduction

1. if you put two words together ''brilliant scientist'' and the name Albert Einstein will always come to mind. he was indeed a brilliant scientist and he had a deep appreciation for the magnificence of the world and the uNIVerse in which he lived. he believed in a pantheistic God, though not a personal God. he was not religious, but he did believe that there was a supreme power greater than the uNIVerse itself, but he had no interest in the church or any type of organized religion. one of his students, Charles misner, gave a very interesting explanation as to why.

2. ''the design of the uNIVerse is very magnificent.... in fact, I believe that is why Einstein had so little use for organized religion, although he struck me as basically a very religious man. Einstein must have looked at what the preacher said about God and felt they were blaspheming! he had seen more majesty than he had ever imagined in the creation of the uNIVerse and felt the God they were talking about couldn't have been the real thing. my guess is that he simply felt that the churches he had run across did not have proper respect for the author of the uNIVerse.''
3. his point was that when Einstein looked at the God that people say they believe in he was so reduced in his greatness, in his power, and his majesty that for Einstein that just wasn't much of a God to be worshipped. if you would like to know what the real God looks like, ''the God'' who is great and glorious, who is magnificent and majestic, who is supreme and sovereign, you need to look no further than a letter that was written two thousand years ago by a man named Paul who had met this God personally on the Damascus road.
