Ephesians 4:1-6
Introduction
1. There are two things I love about our church. I love our diversity. At our sugarloaf campus, we are one of the most diverse churches in our denomination. Our sugarloaf campus is forty-three percent minority, but we are really diversified in many ways at both of our campuses. Think about it. We are diverse physically. We have tall people, short people, round people, thin people, muscular people, skinny people, athletic people and geeky people.
2. Our personalities are different. We have nervous people, calm people, artistic people, musical people, type a people, type b people, type ''I don't really give a rip about anything'' people.
3. We have different political views. We are diverse politically. We have republicans, democrats, libertarians, independents and the biggest problem of our diversity, frankly, is we pull for different football teams (which frankly I really don't understand).
4. The second thing I love is our unity. We don't just come together; we are together. You can't fake unity. It is obvious that we really do love each other. It doesn't matter whether you are African American, Caucasian, Hispanic, Indian, or Asian. There is a fellowship and friendship that people can see that is undeniable.
5. I heard about a little boy who was talking to his mom and he asked her where he was born. She said, ''you were born in Virginia.'' he said, ''where was daddy born?'' she said, ''he was born in Kentucky.'' he said, ''where was baby sister born?'' she said, ''she was born in new York.'' she said, ''why do you want to know?'' the little boy said, ''you know mom I was just thinking, 'isn't it great that god got all of us together?'''
6. There are two things I never want to lose about our church. I don't ever want us to lose our diversity. I don't really fear that. We will always reflect our community. People of all stripes and colors ...
