Christmas Grace (1 of 3)

Genesis 3:1-21

I heard about a young pastor who was pastoring his first church. He worked so hard on his first sermon. But he didn't realize all that a pastor had to do (visits, counseling, funerals, appointments...) so the 2nd week he preached the same sermon. This continued for 3 weeks.

A senior adult SS class requested a meeting with the deacons. ''Why, he's preached the same sermon 3 Sundays in a row!''
The deacon chairman asked, ''What was the sermon about?''
No one in the class could remember.
The deacon said, ''We'll ask him to preach it one more time!''

He gets her to distort God's Word. (She adds ''or touch it'')

The essence of each of these is ''God's holding out on you. He doesn't want you to have any fun.''

Satan is still spreading that lie today.

B. We are depraved from within (6-7)

Who taught Adam and Eve how to lie? Disobey? Rebel?

Children come into the world knowing how to suckle, scream, and sin.

1 John 2:16 - ''For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world.''

All 3 of these are present in VERSE 6.

We do ...
