Theme: ''Those that seek Jesus will find eternal joy''
This is our third sermon in our Advent Series ''Rediscovering Christmas.'' The word ''Advent'' means ''the arrival of something important or something comes to fruition that you have been awaiting.''
In our series we will discuss hope, peace, joy, love, and Jesus Christ. I think that we can all agree that 2020 has been a year of anxiety, heartbreak, despair, and mystery.
Who would have thought that come the middle of March that our nation would literally shutdown and we would be thrown into a pandemic? The greatest economy in the history of the world came to a screeching halt. Jobs were lost, businesses were closed, and restaurants literally locked their doors.
On top of all of that our churches were shutdown and today we are nine months into the pandemic and many churches will never recover. You might now ask ''Preacher why are you going to speak about Joy'' well I am so glad that you asked!!!
Christ is about joy, though many will be bankrupt of joy during the Christmas holiday. Jesus brought joy to this earth, he brought joy to Zacharias, he brought joy to Mary, he brought joy to the shepherds, and he brought joy to the Wisemen. The same joy that the world received in those days is still as fresh and fluid in this age. Jesus wants you to have joy, he wants to take away your emptiness and give you real joy and a relevant joy.
Today we will see some Wisemen that went on a ''Journey of Joy!!!''
