Series: Easter: Why Jesus?
James Merritt
I Peter 3:18
Introduction: You don't have to say a lot. In just a few words, you can say something that will stand the test of time, be remembered and repeated for hundreds if not thousands of years, and make a tremendous impact. Let me give you an example. ''I have a dream... [we] will live in a nation where [we] will not be judged by the color of [our] skin, but by the content of [our] character.'' - Martin Luther King, jr.
''Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.'' - john f. Kennedy ''The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.'' - franklin Roosevelt ''...Government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from this earth.'' - Abraham Lincoln ''Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.'' - Ronald Reagan ''When they go low, we go high.'' - Michelle Obama ''Don't count the days - make the days count.'' - Muhammad ali Here are two or three that will bring a smile to your face. ''When you come to a fork in the road, take it.'' - Yogi Bear ''You don't need a parachute to go skydiving. You need a parachute to go skydiving twice.'' ''You know you are ugly when it comes to a group picture and they hand you the camera.''
You really can say a lot or say very little at times when it comes to speech and writing. It is the quality of what is said; not the quantity that counts. It is so true of some scripture we are going to look at today.
