Big Idea: God allows bad things to happen to good people so that we can see and trust that God is truly good.
I. Introduction
As you probably know, Easter is coming up fast. Easter offers us two important opportunities: first, it gives us the opportunity to celebrate the certainty of our faith. Without the Resurrection, Christianity is meaningless. But because of the Resurrection, Christianity means everything. So Easter gives us the opportunity, as believers, to celebrate the certainty of our faith.
But Easter also gives us a great opportunity to do what we exist to do as a church, which is to shine the light of the Gospel to the world. So what I'd like to do is give you three reasons why you should invite someone to church with you this Easter:
#3 - Invite someone because people are more likely to say ''yes'' on Easter than any other weekend. One recent study found that 96% of those who don't attend church would agree to go on Easter if invited.
#2- Invite someone because the Gospel will be explained in a clear and engaging way. Our theme this year for Easter is baggage check, picking up on the idea that because of Jesus' death and resurrection, we can give him all the baggage we've accumulated in life and be set free for new life. Let's check out the trailer together:
#1 - Invite someone because you care about them. That's the number one reason to invite someone to come to Easter at Mission Hills...because you care about them.
We have 9 services on three different campuses this Easter. We're going to have a great time celebrating the Resurrection as believers, but I want to challenge you to be outward-facing this Easter and use the invite cards to reach out to someone that you know doesn't know the power of the Resurrection in their lives.
