Psalm 19:7-11
Intro/Attention
Last week, we started studying Psalm 19 in a short sermon series I'm calling Rooted: Grow Deep. Live Strong. It is important for followers of Jesus that our lives are rooted in the Word of God.
Remember, God has revealed Himself to us in two major ways. Through general revelation, God reveals Himself by means of His creation. Through special revelation, God reveals Himself through His Word - the Bible. *James Montgomery Boice said, ''The revelation of God in nature is glorious, just as the visible transfiguration of Jesus and the heavenly voice were glorious. But glorious as it is, it cannot compare to the written revelation. It is that ''more certain'' or ''more sure'' revelation that concerns David in the second half of this psalm.*
Today, from Psalm 19:7-11, I'm preaching on this subject, A Book That Will Change Your Life. And of course, I'm talking about the Word of God - the Bible.
*Did you know that the Bible is absolutely essential for your growth as a follower of Christ? You cannot grow as a believer in Jesus without a regular diet of God's Word. It's impossible for a believer to draw closer to Christ without diving deeper into the Word of God. That's why each year we provide Bible Reading Plans for you to take and follow throughout the year; it's why we offer daily devotion books where each lesson centers its teaching on the Bible each day; it's why I preach with my Bible open and keep referring back to the text over and over again; and it's why I asked that we put Bibles in the back of the seats in front of you because if you don't have a Bible take it and make it yours. Bring a Bible to church, read the Bible each day, mark it up, turn the pages, study it, and grow from its truth!* READ TEXT
