Psalm 23: 6
Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever. (ESV)
Centering in on vs 6, we will learn what this means and that we can put ourselves right into this verse, and we will see that Goodness and Mercy will follow us all the days of our lives, and that we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
SURELY - is like saying with great confidence ''truly.'' It is also translated ''only.'' Only? Really? Is this true? That only goodness and mercy will follow me? I mean I think a mixed bag of good and bad will follow me at best! But God is trying to show us that He works all things together for good. God is good and when we put our faith in Him, what He will do with our lives and on our behalf will be as He defines it, good!
GOODNESS AND MERCY OF GOD
My wife Gerri and I have been walking with the Lord for 37 years. When we look back over the past 37 years, has it been easy? No, but our testimony is that the LORD HAS BEEN GOOD!
