Big Idea: We need God's Word to be our true north and we need each other on this journey.
Intro: Growing up living near woods, we learned how to use a compass. This was helpful as we hunted, played hide and seek, and played paintball. Knowing how to use a compass was very helpful when we were deep in the woods. When you're a kid every tree is big and you feel small when you think you're lost. Our house was always north.
Ever been there?
Without a true north, our anxiety ramps up and we feel lost. Life feels out of control. A true north brings peace and clarity.
Tension: We want to answer the question: why we connect? We'll discover that it's a huge part of our true north.
It's no secret that people are attending church less and less from when the pandemic hit. Even those who are watching are attending less and less.
Here are some stats on where Americans are with attending church 5 months into the pandemic: 50% of Christian Millennials are not viewing services online 35% of GenX have stopped watching online 26% of Boomers have stopped watching online 18% watch other churches and 14% have switched churches online 17% of all practicing Christians who have stopped attending online say they feel bored ''all of the time'' 11% of all practicing Christians who have stopped attending online say they feel ''insecure''
From conversations with those around me, I've heard: ''Online church isn't the same as being in-person.'' ''I can watch it anytime on-demand, so why watch live?'' ''It's too much with the kids running around.''
