Big Idea: It is hard to sacrifice without knowing the results of sacrifice. Sacrifice is always worth it when we experience the results. In the moment, sacrifice feels like something's been taken/stolen. After the results, sacrifice feels like something's been given.
Intro: We know some Bible stories but do we really know the story of the Bible? Many people know some of the stories of the Bible Creation (Adam and Eve) Noah and the Flood Moses and Red Sea David and Goliath Jesus' birth, death, and resurrection Peter and Judas The point of this series is for us to see the storyline of Jesus The whole Bible points to Jesus and specifically how stories in the Old Testament highlight the greater story of the Bible Imagine what would happen to our faith as we see the story of Jesus in all the pages of the Bible Christmas, which is us celebrating the birth of Jesus, is just a few weeks away Imagine how much more meaningful Christmas can be with understanding the bigger picture We'll find that several stories pointed to the bigger storyline-Jesus
Recent experience with sacrifice as a coach. Student athletes did not take care of their equipment after being instructed to Someone came in and cleaned up the locker room, including helmets that were staged somewhere Coaching staff talked and the head coach moved to keep these players from playing in the next game unless they found their helmet This decision kept 3 of the best players out of the game, which the team lost 6-3 There was a dad who approached the coaching staff as to why the coach didn't play his son...once it was explained the dad thanked the coach because it was the right move to teach discipline
