Intro: We all have regrets we wish we could go back and change. Maybe we want to hit the reset button on our relationships, health, and plans. Maybe there are decisions we wish we could do over. We can't go back and undo our past, but with Jesus we can start over.
The greatest obstacle to us getting to where it is that God wants us to be affects all of us. The greatest obstacle for all of us is how we see ourselves. It's how you see you. It's how I see me.
It's our past that we cannot get past. Things we've done to ourselves in action or reaction. Regrets Problems Addictions Failures ''I've always been this way.'' ''I'm never going to be ____ or get to ____ because I never have.
There's a big gap between how I see myself and the way God sees me. If there's a difference between how I see myself and how God sees me. There's a difference between how you see you and how God sees you. The problem is not with God...it's with you and me.
Tension: Everything in the Christian life and everything in life in general hangs on how you see you and how I see me. It might help if we describe this in one word-insecurity. Maybe you don't have any insecurities but I imagine that the person next to you does. I can promise you that I do. Insecurity is a dangerous perspective of how you see you and how I see me.
