Big Idea: We need to prepare ourselves to make the most of this home. While we wait, we need to make the most of this home.

Intro: There has been plenty of change that we've experience since March. As we've dove into this fall, there is still plenty of change that we'll experience. There is school, work, an election, and holidays. On top of all that, there are relationships-marriage, kids, work, school, church. We want to take a look at a letter Peter wrote and find some inspiration as we end 2020 well.

Peter, a close friend to Jesus, wrote a letter that circulated around local churches. This letter was written to encourage followers of Jesus that hope in our true home empowers us to live Jesus-centered lives in our temporary home. This big idea will be seen through each week as we read through Peter's first of two letters.

Here's my ask as we jump into this series-join a group. All of our adult groups will be aligned for the next eight weeks as we go through this series. Each week there will be discussion questions from the Sunday teaching. We believe that doing a study like this together will strengthen our groups, which will strengthen our church. Having a group of people going in the same direction under the same mission/vision can achieve a lot. Think of a football team...when every one is going the same direction under the same mission/vision winning usually happens.

Tension: Have you ever prepared for a trip? You get everything ready to do something (swim, hike, golf, fish, work outside, bikes). You also have self-control or at least plan to have self-control (spending, times out to eat, shopping, exercise, sleep in but not excessive).
