We are living in unprecedented times. Unprecedented means ''not done or experienced before.'' Unprecedented means ''without precedent.'' Growing up it seemed like I was always living in the shadow of my older brother. To this day, we are close, but growing up, it seemed like he always knew how to do everything, and I was just tagging along trying to do the same things. I remember when he got his first 10-speed bicycle. So, when my birthday came around, I begged my parents for a 10-speed. I guess they thought I couldn't handle it, so they bought me a 3-speed. I was really disappointed, so they bought me the curled handlebars to make it look a little closer to a 10-speed, but it still had fenders! Me riding this bike would be unprecedented. I mean, the bike alone looked unprecedented! My maiden voyage of this wanna-be-10-speed ended in disaster when the curled handlebars got stuck under the main bar of the bike on a turn and I ended up on the pavement! It was an unprecedented experience never to be repeated!
In our lifetime, it's never been like this before. We are trying to live in an unfamiliar environment. It feels sometimes like we are fish out of water. Wearing that mask makes me feel like a fish out of water because I can't breathe! In these unprecedented times, we are trying to train ourselves to be distant. No handshakes or hugs. No pats on the back. We are forced to hide our expression behind our masks. We can't greet each other at church the way we always have. My Bible says to ''greet each other with a holy kiss,'' not a holy elbow bump or a holy air high-five! Many people are getting very frustrated with the restrictions and demands put on them that they want to rebel against the system. They don't know how to be normal anymore. I believe there is a God-strategy in all of this.
