Galatians 6:7-10
Introduction
1. If could give one piece of advice to every human being that is born as they begin their life and I knew they would take it, it would be in four words - ''don't waste your life.'' pastor john piper told two stories in his church about two different couples of people. There were two ladies, ruby elision and Laura Edwards. They were both over 80 years old. Ruby was a nurse and Laura was a medical doctor. Ruby, single all of her life, had given her life to one thing: to make Jesus Christ known among the sick and the poor in the hardest and most unreached places in Cameroon. Laura in her retirement, joined ruby, and went with her from village to village in this tiny country sharing the gospel of Jesus. As they were driving to one of the villages, the brakes gave way in their car. They went over a cliff and they were instantly killed. He then asked his people this question, ''is this a tragedy?'' most of us would say it was, but then he shared the other story.
2. He found it in a reader's digest. Bob and penny took early retirement from their jobs in the northeast five years ago when he was fifty-nine and she was fifty-one. Now, they live in Punta gorda, Florida, where they cruise on their thirty-foot trawler, play softball, and collect seashells. John piper paused and then said, ''now that is a tragedy.'' two women died. They stand before god. God says, ''what did you do with your life?'' they reply, ''we sowed the seeds of goodness and grace in the lives of others. We served people. We shared the love of god.''
3. Bob and penny stand before god and he says, ''what did you do with your life?'' they say, ''look at our shell collection. Look at our perfect softball swing and how do you like our boat?''
