I. IT IS A POSITIVE COMMANDMENT - (vs. negative commandment)
Call for Action - HONOR

WHAT IS HONOR?

a. Highly Esteem
b. To treat with value and dignity
c. To uplift and exalt

HONORING OUR PARENTS IS A LIFE LONG COMMAND AS CHILDREN - honor by obedience. AS ADULT, honor by respect, commitment and care

II. IT IS A UNIVERSAL COMMANDMENT - (vs. conditional commandment)

In God's sight, there is no parent who deserves dishonor. (It is for everyone)
It is riot saying every parent isn't honorable. only that we are not responsible for their actions, only ours.

COMMON REASONS FOR A LACK OF PARENTAL HONOR

1 Busy and Mis-prioritized life - They take what we have left to give.
2. Unforgiveness/ Judgmentalism - We are withholding honor because of something
done or not done to us by our parents.
3 Comparison - ''You're not as neat as so and so's parents.'' ''You embarrass
me.'' ''Why can' t we do what they do?''
